The day
was quite mild & dry, I took a quick trip to a local farm.
I was on
the land approx 10 minutes, and had seen 3 rabbits running for cover as I
approached them.
I went
around the farm, checking the trees for Grey Squirrels, as I got near the Holly
bush on the neighbour's land, a large female was 1/2 way up the main trunk,
watching me.
A gentle
squeeze of my trigger, and it was Goodnight Vienna.
She fell
from the tree and landed in the tiny tributary stream below.
I went to
retrieve her (I have permission on the neighbour's land too) and headed back
towards the farm house.
I was met
by Jim, and he was pleased to see the dead squirrel
"That's
one less!" he commented.
He
explained where he'd been seeing the rabbits most recently, although the numbers
had dropped dramatically, he asked me to keep coming whenever I had the time.
